		<description>Thanks for the very nice comments, Fred. I may have been wrong on the blogger thing, so it's worth checking out. But they do say WordPress is best for SEO, and you can certainly get a good blog out of WordPress.com very easily. It's this self-hosted business that's work.</description>

This is great stuff. I've been thinking about getting into blogging, and this post really lays is all out as being quite an undertaking. I've gone onto the blogging II page and found a lot of great details there as well. My goals are much simpler than yours -- no "monitization" of the bog -- but I still have to choose a tech and decide whether I can live with "blogger" in my URL. I think I'll start small and work my way up...
