I did have that in the first version, but the parenthetical was bogging down the paragraph. I guess I must have felt there was something I wanted from him that didn’t involve the arm.

Hmmmm. Now that doesn’t sound like Dale at all. He has always tried to be helpful to the women in his life, regardless of their status.

I’ll bet you’re forgetting something that may explain this. Hmmmmm. Oh, I don’t know. Maybe he partially tore a bicep tendon while helping two firemen at a house fire? Maybe this happened before you met him.? Maybe he had reconstructive bicep tendon surgery in the middle of your relationship that required a cast and arm brace, and kept him out of work for 12 weeks?

I don’t know. These are just guesses.

Anyway, I really like your piece. I always enjoy reading what you write. Good perspective that I had never thought about. Keep up the good work Betsy.
